Metro Production Conference 2018

Flying to Tampa, Florida later this month for the 50th Anniversary of the Metro Production Conference.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again at Saddlebrook Resort May 31st to June 3rd to share cost savings ideas and more!

This month, the U.S. government piled huge tariffs onto the imports of newsprint from Canada, affecting many  suppliers. As a result, the price will increase significantly for most newspapers and commercial printers.

Newspapers remain vital civic assets — nobody else will report on your community with the depth and breadth of a newspaper — but publishing them is not an easy business, and these tariffs will make it even harder.  This is a kick in the teeth. These tariffs will hurt our readers, because they create pressure to raise our prices, and they will force publishers to re-examine every other expense. Maybe we will drop some puzzles and comics — no big deal, unless we cut one that is your favorite. ~Chairman and CEO of the Tampa Bay Times, Paul Tash.

To help offset the extra expense of  newsprint, publishers will have to make tough decisions.

This year, the Metro Production Conference will focus on helping Newspapers “Streamline Production” to HELP SAVE COSTS. Bruce Faulmann, the Times Vice President of Advertising and Marketing, will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about how newspapers and printers can find growth in the industry.

With this significant impact to the printing business and the rising cost of consumables, the industry must find components to help reduce expenses. This will be the focus at the Metro Production Conference 2018
